Wie bereits in einem früheren Artikel vorgestellt, handelt es sich beim sogenannten Larynxtubus um ein für die Präklinik hervorragend geeignetes, alternatives Atemwegshilfsmittel. 
Jetzt hat der Larynxtubus noch eine sinnvolle Weiterentwicklung erfahren, nämlich einen zusätzlichen Drainage-Kanal zum Entlasten des Magens.
Da der Larynxtubus immer im Ösophagus zu liegen kommt, kann über das Einführen einer Magensonde Sekret abgesaugt und der Magen von zuvor insufflierter Luft entlastet werden. Diese Druckentlastung des Magens dürfte wohl auch maßgeblich zur Verminderung der Aspirationsgefahr unter Reanimationsbedingungen beitragen, jedoch gibt es dazu wahrscheinlich noch keine klinische Studie.
An dieser Stelle bleibt überhaupt zu erwähnen, dass in den aktuellen Guidelines des ERC zwar der Larynxtubus schon erwähnt wird, die Datenlage jedoch noch nicht ausreichend war um ein spezielles, alternatives Atemwegshilfsmittel für die Guidelines von 2005 explicit zu empfehlen. Wer allerdings die einfache Anwendbarkeit des Larynxtubus schon einmal gesehen hat, wird jedoch kaum daran zweifeln, dass dieser schon bald seinen Siegeszug im präklinischen Airway-Management antreten wird!
